In 2024, I completed a research residency with Samoa House Library on Karangahape road. The residency started with a curiosity towards the Maota Samoa's cultural and historical significance to Tāmaki Makaurau. After discovering the lack of published scholarly material on the building, the output of the residency became a zine, compiling as much infomation about the Maota Samoa together as I could within the six-month residency period. The zine was gifted to Samoa House Library after the residency in the hope it would act as a research starting point for those looking for infomation on the building. A copy was also donated to ObjectSpace for their exhibition, "Building an archive of Indigenous architecture: Joar Nango and collaborators" which opened in November 2024.
